Success Story

Renovation and Upgrading of Parking Lots

There is no such thing as a Jerusalemite who does not recognize the “Clal Center” – a 15 story office building that was built at the end of the 70s, which includes a three-story indoor commercial center and which is situated in the heart of the city, on Jaffa Road and the Davidka Square adjacent to the “Mahane Yehuda” market.

Even the dilapidated and shameful state of the 480 parking spaces on the four underground levels of the Clal Center’s parking lot was familiar and notorious for many years to the building’s employees and visitors - until we took on the challenge.

At the outset, Yamit was responsible for upgrading the parking lot’s infrastructure and turning it into one of the most advanced and largest automated parking lots in the city, which included a license plate recognition camera system, four automatic payment machines and the remote control and supervision center which sees and hears 24 hours a day. However, the greatest leap at the Clal Center parking lot, and the adjacent “Windows” building (about an additional 200 parking spaces), toward the 21st century, was with our completion over the past year of the upgrading of the parking lot’s entire infrastructure, with an unprecedented investment, and by applying the most advanced technologies in the market.

Pavement

The entire obsolete concrete pavement of the parking lot levels underwent a thorough cleaning, polishing with specialized machinery, repairs of seams and wear damage, and smoothing with unique and resistant materials – all of which as preparation of the old concrete pavement for several layers of epoxy, in various textures and shades. Each level received a special color of its own as part of the epoxy painting of the parking lot’s parkingspaces, paths and passages. The parking spaces were repainted and marked, new handicapped parking spaces were added and marked pursuant to the Israel Standard of the Accessibility Association, pathway symbols and traffic guidance were added, sidewalks and pedestrian crossing were emphasized.

Smart and Cost-effective Lighting

Energy savings and the need to become more efficient in the use of energy are also an integral part of the 21st century. Therefore, the parking lot’s entire electric and lighting infrastructure was replaced and upgraded by us as part as the renovation process. The obsolete and wasteful lighting fixtures were replaced with smart and cost effective LED bulbs, which include unique sensors that identify the movement of motor vehicles or pedestrians in the area of the parking lot, and adjust the strength of their lighting accordingly.

Parking Guidance (“red-green” system)

Yamit was the first company in the capitol to assimilate in its parking lots a smart system for driver-guidance and finding vacant parking spots in real time – the “red-green” system. This system is based on unique sensors which are installed at the front of each parking spot in the lot, which scan the parking spaces and using colored LED bulbs, indicate to the driver from a distance if the space is vacant or occupied. In addition, the system also integrates digital directional signs for each level and at the parking lot’s main entrance. The advantages in the reduction in time for those arriving at the parking lot in finding an available parking spot are many and valuable: savings in time for the users, creation of order and a quicker flow of vehicles in the parking lot, more comfort and easier orientation for newer users, a substantial reduction in the emission of polluting exhaust fumes from the vehicles, etc.
